The Opportunity:

We’re currently looking for a Solutions Engineer to step into a crucial role supporting our systems and applications, with an immediate start available. This is a 6-month full-time position, with potential for extension, based at The Perth Mint in East Perth.

You’ll be working primarily with the Progress application systems, helping to keep a business-critical platforms stable, supported, and evolving where needed. From managing incidents and requests to analysing issues and delivering practical solutions, your work will play a key role in keeping day to day operations running smoothly.

This is a hands on, detail driven role where your technical capability, patience, and problem-solving mindset will truly matter. If you enjoy understanding how long-standing systems work, take pride in keeping them reliable, and like being the person others turn to when something needs careful attention - we’d love to hear from you.

About You:

You’re someone who likes to understand the full picture. You take the time to learn how the business uses the systems, work closely with users to define requirements, and translate those needs into well considered solutions.

You have experience in software analysis and development, testing, documentation, and version control, and you’re comfortable working with Progress 4GL programming languages (OpenEdge ABL). You’ve used source code management tools like Git and understand the value of structured delivery, including CI/CD practices where appropriate.

You’re analytical and methodical, with a strong ability to perform root cause analysis, assess impacts, and manage change carefully in a live production environment. You understand how important stability, performance, and availability are when supporting a system the business relies on every day.

You’re also collaborative, motivated to learn, and generous with your knowledge - supporting teammates, sharing expertise, and helping ensure continuity when others are away. You communicate clearly, work safely, and take pride in doing things properly.

Lastly, you hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, and you’re ready to step into a role where your experience with a legacy system will make a real difference.
