Perth Airport is Australia’s Western Hub connecting the people, businesses and communities of Western Australia with the rest of Australia and the world. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year, Perth Airport plays a significant role in providing economic, social and cultural benefits to West Australians.
Perth Airport is investing more than $5 billion in new infrastructure so we can support our airline partners to grow, offering more services to new destinations and an improved customer experience.
Over the coming decade we will expand T1 International, and build new domestic terminal facilities, a parallel runway, two multi-storey carparks and our first airport hotel. This will deliver one airport for the people of Western Australia which will host all flight services in a central location giving passengers a seamless, world-class travel experience.
The Perth Airport estate is spread over 2100 hectares and has developed a $1.5 billion portfolio of existing industrial premises and significant vacant land holdings.
We service a truly diverse community and play an important role in strengthening cultural, family and social bonds while supporting business, tourism and leisure travel.
About the role
Perth Airport is seeking expressions of interest from experienced project professionals. As Senior Project Manager, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of complex capital works across the Perth Airport precinct, projects that must be delivered safely and seamlessly in a live operational environment. You will translate strategic intent into clear scope, robust plans and disciplined governance, while partnering closely with internal business owners, design and construction partners, and external regulators. This is a highly visible role requiring strong judgement, commercial acumen and the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve on-time, on-budget outcomes without compromising safety, security, operational continuity or customer experience.
You will be accountable for driving schedule, cost, risk and change control, and for setting a high standard of reporting and communication across all levels of the business. Success in this role is measured by predictable delivery, strong contractor and consultant performance, effective stakeholder alignment, and well-executed handovers that strengthen Perth Airport’s long-term asset performance. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Modelling and promoting Perth Airport’s commitment to values, safety, and customer service excellence through day-to-day leadership and people practices.
- Planning and overseeing delivery of assigned capital works projects to meet business needs, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within budget and in line with agreed scope, quality, safety, security and environmental standards.
- Defining and managing project briefs, objectives and deliverables, coordinating analysis, stakeholder consultation and approval processes to ensure alignment with business requirements.
- Leading stakeholder engagement, building strong relationships with project owners, designers, contractors and regulators, and supporting Perth Airport’s reputation through effective communication and collaboration.
- Identifying, assessing and managing project risks and issues in line with Perth Airport’s Risk Management Framework, escalating where appropriate and implementing practical mitigations for constraints and dependencies.
- Managing project resources and utilisation and presenting variances and corrective actions as required.
- Producing key delivery documentation, leading project meetings, completing scheduled reports and month-end activities, and providing accurate, timely progress updates and recommendations.
- Coordinating and guiding project teams, ensuring clarity of responsibilities and alignment to objectives, and supporting capability development through coaching, mentoring and training where appropriate.
- Driving continuous improvement by reviewing delivery practices and implementing innovations that enhance efficiency, governance and quality of outcomes.
- Developing and monitoring integrated project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and resources are allocated effectively.
- Coordinating project closeout, commissioning readiness and handover, preparing completion documentation and capturing lessons learned to strengthen future delivery.
About You
You are a driven project professional ready to step into a role with bigger scope and impact. You bring a practical, outcomes-focused approach and enjoy working with multiple stakeholders in a live operational environment. You are organised, clear in your communication and comfortable taking ownership while also knowing when to seek guidance, escalate risks and collaborate to get the best result. To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Minimum 6+ years’ experience delivering capital works or complex building/infrastructure projects through design and construction, including coordinating consultants and contractors, managing site activities and supporting commissioning and handover.
- Good grounding in project controls, planning and scheduling, cost tracking/forecasting, risk and issue management, and change control.
- Working knowledge of contract administration and procurement processes, including managing variations, progress claims and performance against deliverables.
- A strong safety mindset and the ability to contribute to safe, compliant outcomes in a regulated environment.
- Confident stakeholder engagement skills, able to work effectively with operational teams, project sponsors, consultants, contractors and regulators.
- A growth mindset, keen to learn, adopt better ways of working, and take on increasing responsibility with support from a strong delivery team.
