Perth Airport is Australia’s Western Hub connecting the people, businesses and communities of Western Australia with the rest of Australia and the world. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout the year, Perth Airport plays a significant role in providing economic, social and cultural benefits to West Australians.
Perth Airport is investing more than $5 billion in new infrastructure so we can support our airline partners to grow, offering more services to new destinations and an improved customer experience.
Over the coming decade we will expand T1 International, and build new domestic terminal facilities, a parallel runway, two multi-storey carparks and our first airport hotel. This will deliver one airport for the people of Western Australia which will host all flight services in a central location giving passengers a seamless, world-class travel experience.
The Perth Airport estate is spread over 2100 hectares and has developed a $1.5 billion portfolio of existing industrial premises and significant vacant land holdings.
We service a truly diverse community and play an important role in strengthening cultural, family and social bonds while supporting business, tourism and leisure travel.
About the role
This senior role plays a key part in supporting injury management, early intervention and fitness for work across Perth Airport, while also contributing to the broader health, hygiene and wellbeing function.
As Senior Business Partner - Health & Wellbeing, you will work closely with leaders, WHS and People & Culture to manage complex health matters, support recovery at work and prevent issues from escalating. The role also contributes to establishing and uplifting health and wellbeing processes, initiatives and capability within a growing team.
Working alongside the Manager Health & Wellbeing, the role supports day‑to‑day delivery across all health and wellbeing areas, while also helping to shape how health and wellbeing is managed, embedded and sustained as the function continues to mature at PAPL.
This role is suited to an experienced practitioner who can operate confidently across both delivery and development, supporting immediate operational needs while contributing to longer‑term frameworks, initiatives and ways of working that strengthen health and wellbeing outcomes. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide senior‑level health and wellbeing expertise across all core areas, including injury management, early intervention, fitness for work, psychosocial health and health and hygiene hazards.
- Support the day‑to‑day delivery of health and wellbeing activities, including advice and support relating to hygiene risks, exposure management and health‑related controls.
- Apply sound professional judgement to complex or sensitive matters, supporting early intervention and preventing issues from escalating.
- Contribute to injury management and recovery at work activities, including guidance on fitness for work, workplace adjustments and appropriate escalation pathways.
- Support and contribute to health and hygiene risk assessments, inspections, monitoring and assurance activities, working closely with WHS and specialist resources where required.
- Partner closely with the Manager Health & Wellbeing to design, implement and embed new processes, initiatives and ways of working, including those relating to health and hygiene risk management.
- Support the development and uplift of health and wellbeing frameworks, tools and guidance, ensuring health and hygiene requirements are clearly integrated and practically applied.
- Assist in building consistent and sustainable approaches to health, hygiene and wellbeing across PAPL, supporting improved capability, clarity and maturity over time.
- Work collaboratively with WHS, People & Culture and operational leaders to ensure clear interfaces, coordinated responses and consistent application of health, hygiene and wellbeing expectations.
- Contribute to monitoring trends, identifying emerging health or hygiene issues, and informing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of health, hygiene, and wellbeing policies, systems, and initiatives.
About You
You are a senior health and wellbeing practitioner with demonstrated experience supporting complex workplaces. You are confident applying professional judgement, influencing leaders and navigating sensitive health‑related matters with discretion and pragmatism.
You bring a practical, solutions‑focused approach and are comfortable operating independently while working collaboratively across WHS, People & Culture and operational teams. You understand the importance of early intervention, consistency and clear escalation, and can balance strategic intent with real‑world application.
You will bring a strong mix of technical expertise, operational experience, and interpersonal capability, including:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior or specialist health, wellbeing or injury management role, ideally within a complex or operational environment.
- Strong working knowledge of injury management, early intervention and fitness for work principles, with the ability to apply these practically.
- Proven ability to influence leaders and stakeholders, including engaging in challenging or sensitive discussions.
- Experience across physical health, psychosocial risk and wellbeing, rather than a single‑discipline focus.
- Ability to exercise sound professional judgement and operate with a high level of autonomy.
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working alongside WHS and People & Culture teams.
- Tertiary qualifications in a recognised health, wellbeing or allied health discipline relevant to workplace health and injury management.
- Experience working in high‑risk, regulated or operational environments desired.
