Create content that cuts through. Tell stories that matter. Help shape New Zealand's political conversation.

The Labour Leader's Office is looking for a Social Media Videographer who lives and breathes digital content. This is a fast-paced and creative role. You'll be a core part of our communications team, producing short and long-form video that hooks audiences and communicates Labour's message.

You'll work closely with the Leader, travelling with them around New Zealand for community events and stakeholder engagement, and be part of a team that's always in the thick of it. If you're the kind of person who's always thinking about the next piece of content - whether that's a sharp 15-second cut, a longer storytelling moment, or a creative concept - this role is for you.

What you'll be doing

You’ll work closely with the Director of Strategy and digital communications team to ensure Labour’s policies and messaging are effectively communicated across various platforms.

  • Shooting and editing high-quality video for a range of platforms - with a strong focus on short-form, vertical content produced to capture attention
  • Covering the Leader at events, interviews, and community visits - capturing authentic moments that tell a compelling story
  • Developing creative concepts that translate Labour's message into content that genuinely performs
  • Planning content alongside the digital communications team, thinking across all platforms
  • Monitoring the digital landscape - identifying trends and opportunities early
  • Reviewing performance data and sharpening your approach based on what's working
  • Contributing photo, graphic, and audio content as needed

What you'll bring

We are looking for a skilled videographer with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in social media video and content creation. The ideal candidate will have experience in creating engaging visual materials across multiple platforms and be proficient in industry-standard software.

  • At least three years' experience in a video content production role, with a strong portfolio of social content
  • A proven storyteller - you know how to hook an audience in the first two seconds and hold them
  • A social media native with sharp instincts for what performs across platforms - including a strong grasp of trends and the ability to produce reactive video memes that land
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects) across Mac and Windows
  • Calm under pressure and adaptable when plans change
  • Discreet, trustworthy, and able to handle sensitive information with professionalism
  • A genuine interest in New Zealand politics and public affairs

Why Work for Parliamentary Service?

  • 5 weeks annual leave
  • Access to on-site gym and pool
  • Flexible working arrangements
  • Learning and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to be part of the action at Parliament including attending question time, select committees and other key events

This is a full-time role. Some weekend and late-night work will be required, as well as occasional travel with the Leader. The salary range is $75,000 – $90,000. We are open to considering remuneration above this range for candidates who bring significant relevant experience
