Mō te tūnga | About the role:
The main purpose for the MP Support Coordinator position is to support the community engagement between Jo Luxton MP and the East Coast community. Listed below are the core responsibilities.
This role will be working from home and in the community for 10 hours per week, you’ll be working to support the very machinery of Aotearoa New Zealand’s democracy.

Your previous experiences in providing administrative support and community engagement will be nothing short of excellent. You will be comfortable dealing with people and be close to the issues facing the community and be able to do this while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality. Often, you’ll be the first point of contact, be highly organised and love working within a collaborative team.
Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:
- Assist with community engagement for the MP.
- Monitor local forums, newsletters, community Facebook pages where required, and maintain established information databases relating to work and contacts made in the community.
- Help provide information and advice to constituents on parliamentary processes and services.
- Maintain established databases and files relating to constituent issues.
- Raise common community issues to the MP.
- Have input into the MPs social media.
- Plan, alongside the MP, visits and meetings within the community.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be politically impartial in your role. An awareness of the political landscape would be beneficial in supporting the MP.
The pay band for the role starts at $67,500 per annum and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events based’ agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based on the East Coast for 10 hours per week.
