Mō te tūnga | About the Role

As a Cyber Security Analyst | Kaitātari Haumarutanga Matihiko Matua, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining the security of Parliament’s ICT services and infrastructure. You’ll play a key role in detecting and responding to cyber security incidents, contributing to security strategy, and promoting cyber security awareness across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and investigate cyber security incidents, reporting threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Support the development and implementation of security policies, processes, and guidelines.
  • Assist in compliance and governance reporting, risk management, and accreditation processes.
  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives and user education programmes.
  • Maintain strong relationships with IST teams, business users, vendors, and government cyber security agencies.

Tō kete | What You Will Bring to the Role

Required:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an NZSIS security clearance to SECRET level or above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Awareness of current cyber security risks, threats, and trends.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and respond to security incidents.
  • Understanding of cyber security frameworks, policies, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Desirable:

  • Experience with Microsoft security technologies and firewall products.
  • Understanding of security operations in a government or public sector environment.
  • Strong relationship-building and advisory skills.
  • Ability to influence and educate users on cyber security best practices.
  • Adaptability and resilience under pressure.

This is a full-time permanent role. The starting salary range for this position is $81,107 - $89,549 per annum, with opportunities for tenure progression based on skills and experience.
