If you are someone who enjoys connecting with your community, read on!

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

Phil Twyford MP is looking for an MP Support Coordinator to join their team in the Te Atatū Electorate Office for 20 hours per week. You’ll be supporting constituents to engage with their elected representatives and helping your MP to connect with the community.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role:

Your previous experiences will set you up for having candid and open conversations with members of the public you’ll be door-knocking and phoning. You’ll be comfortable talking with strangers about the things that matter to them in our community and our country.

You’ll be physically fit and with a resilient personality, able to carry out a weekly schedule of door-knocking and phoning.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will have the political nous to represent the MP and navigate the Parliamentary Service requirement that staff do engagement but not political campaigning.

Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:

  • Door-knocking and phoning constituents to have conversations with them as part of an organised outreach programme.
  • Using an online database to support this work.
  • Reporting in writing weekly on progress against targets.

  • We are proud of He Ao Takitaki (our Te Ao Māori strategy); we offer karakia, waiata, and reo Māori opportunities along with opportunities through other staff networks.
  • Our core values are at the heart of how we work: Integrity, Manaakitanga, Accountability, Whanaungatanga, and Empowerment.

As an employee of Parliamentary Service, you will be politically impartial in your role. An awareness of the political landscape may be beneficial in supporting your MP.

The pay band for the role starts at $67,600 per annum (pro rata) and appointments will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events-based’ agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. This role is based in the Te Atatū Electorate Office. For hours per week.
