The Correspondence Officer provides administration support to the office to ensure all political correspondence is managed and acknowledged effectively.

Excellent writing skills and grammar are key in this role as you ensure correspondence processes are followed. You will bring your high attention to detail and organisational skills as you manage all correspondence received and ensure acknowledgments and replies are accurate and are delivered in a timely manner. 

Your responsibilities include:

  • acknowledge, recorded and distribute political correspondence (letter, email or other electronic correspondence) to the relevant Member of Parliament
  • ensure all acknowledgements and replies to correspondence are accurate and well written
  • maintain and monitor the database of responses to correspondence

You are capable of working individually or effectively within a team as you connect with other administrators within the office. Your ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure will help you to succeed in this role as you become accustomed to the ever-changing environment within Parliament.

The salary for this role will be based on skills and experience. All employees who work for MPs are employed on an ‘events-based’ agreement, with your employment linked to your MP. The role is based in Wellington, in the Parliamentary precinct, for 40 hrs per week.
