Tumu Herenga Kaimahi | Chief of Staff | Green Leaders’ Office

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

The Green Leaders’ Office is seeking a Chief of Staff to lead a high-performing team and drive the Green Party’s parliamentary work.

This pivotal role supports the Co-Leaders and MPs by providing political and strategic advice, overseeing parliamentary operations, and fostering a values-driven workplace culture. You’ll lead a senior leadership team and work closely with Parliamentary Service, other political parties, and key stakeholders.

Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coach a senior team across policy, communications, outreach, and administration.
  • Ensure a positive workplace culture.
  • Provide strategic political advice and risk mitigation planning.
  • Oversee implementation of caucus strategy and workplans.
  • Manage relationships with Parliamentary Service, other political offices, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance reviews, and HR processes.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role:

  • Proven leadership experience in political, public sector, or advocacy environments.
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinking and sound judgment in dynamic settings.
  • Deep understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori, and bicultural responsiveness.
  • Experience in managing budgets, HR, and operational planning.
