We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Specialist to support the delivery of the Future Accommodation Strategy (FAS) – a multi-year, high-profile programme that will shape Parliament’s accommodation for decades to come.

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

As Procurement Specialist, you will work closely with the FAS Procurement Lead to plan, source, and manage a diverse range of contracts, including professional services, construction, and fit out. You will lead procurement activities for lower-risk engagements and contribute to the successful delivery of complex projects that prioritise resilience, sustainability, and innovation.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong commercial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to build trusted relationships. You’ll be part of a collaborative team that upholds the values of integrity, Manaakitanga, accountability, whanaungatanga, and empowerment.

Ngā kawenga | Key responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement processes for low-risk contracts.
  •  Provide sound procurement and commercial advice to stakeholders.
  •  Support the development of procurement documentation and reporting.
  • Assist with contract negotiations and risk management.
  • Maintain procurement records and templates.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.

Parliamentary Service supports New Zealand’s democracy by delivering high-quality services to Members of Parliament, stakeholders, and the public. This role sits within the FAS Special Projects Team in the Precinct Operations Group, which is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the parliamentary precinct.

Tō kete | What you will bring:

  • Proven experience in procurement or a commercial environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship management skills.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small, agile team.
  • Familiarity with government procurement practices is advantageous.
  • Experience in construction-related procurement is desirable.
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to the role of Parliament.
