A core part of this support sits within our highly motivated Finance Group, delivering financial, planning, procurement and commercial services across both organisations. Within this, the Procurement and Contracts Team plays a key role in driving commercial outcomes by enabling the organisation to make informed, value-driven decisions on how it spends public money
You’ll join a collaborative team that manages a high volume of procurement activity across Parliament. This role is an important part of strengthening procurement capability by ensuring day-to-day procurement is delivered consistently, efficiently, and to a high commercial standard.
Mō te tūnga | About the role:
In this varied and hands‑on role, you will:
- Lead and coordinate low to medium-risk procurement activity across the full lifecycle, from planning through to contract award
- Provide practical, timely advice to stakeholders on procurement processes, templates and requirements
- Provide considered recommendations that reflect market dynamics, value for money, and organisational objectives
- Develop fit-for-purpose procurement strategies, plans, and RFx documentation aligned to market conditions and organisational needs
- Design and manage robust evaluation processes that ensure fair, transparent, and value-driven outcomes
- Support contract development, variations and supplier engagement, building your commercial capability
- Manage procurement inboxes and incoming requests, ensuring work is prioritised and delivered efficiently
- Responsible for maintaining accurate procurement and contract records within the contract management system
- Contribute to supplier spend analysis and strategic supplier sourcing strategies
- Identify opportunities and contribute to improving procurement processes and outcomes and overall commercial outcomes
- Support reporting, pipeline coordination and continuous improvement initiatives across the team
This role sits at the centre of the team’s operational delivery. You’ll take ownership of your work, build strong relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, and develop the skills needed to step into more strategic procurement work overtime.
Tō kete | What you will bring to the role:
You’ll be organised, commercially curious and keen to build a career in procurement. Your experience will demonstrate:
- Experience in a commercial, supply chain, coordination or operational role
- Confidence managing procurement activities such as RFQs, with a desire to grow into more complex work
- Strong coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities
- A customer-focused approach, with the ability to build effective stakeholder relationships
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and audit trails
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain processes to non-specialists
- Sound judgement and common sense, knowing when to act independently and when to seek guidance
- A process-oriented mindset and interest in how organisations spend money
- Experience with systems such as TechnologyOne (desirable but not essential)
