About the Team | Mō te tīma

The IST Digital Solutions team sits within the wider Information Systems & Technology (IST) function and plays a crucial role in supporting the work of Parliament. We deliver and maintain the business applications that enable effective services for Members of Parliament and the public.

We work collaboratively with stakeholders across Parliament to ensure our digital solutions are practical, future-focused, and designed with the user in mind. At the heart of our work is a commitment to continuous improvement, service excellence, and strong relationships.

About the Role | Mō te tūnga

We’re looking for an experienced and people-focused People Leader to lead, coach, and support the talented individuals in our Digital Solutions team. As a key people leader, you’ll take ownership of performance, development planning, team wellbeing, and building a values-led, high-performing team culture.

Digital Solutions is entering an exciting phase of momentum and change, creating real opportunities for fresh and modern ideas in how we lead, deliver, and continuously improve.

You’ll work closely with the Delivery Lead and Technical Lead to ensure resources are allocated effectively, priorities are clear, and workloads are balanced. You’ll also support recruitment, lead regular 1:1s and performance reviews, and champion a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

This is a great opportunity to shape the way Parliament delivers digital services – through strong leadership and a deep investment in people.

You’ll play a key role in shifting the dial on team culture, delivery maturity, and professional growth within a core part of IST.

Key Responsibilities | Ngā haepapa matua

  • Inspire, support and develop a high-performing digital team, fostering a strong and inclusive team culture
  • Manage performance, development plans, and remuneration reviews
  • Promote continuous learning, coaching, and professional development.
  • Collaborate with Delivery, Technical Leads and Product Owners to ensure effective resource planning and allocation
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Champion team engagement, collaboration, and wellbeing
  • Contribute to Digital Solutions’ strategic direction and outcomes, planning future capability needs based on the product roadmap.

  • Proven experience leading and developing individuals and teams

This is a full-time permanent role. The salary range for this position is $114,126 – $126,005 per annum. A higher salary may be considered for the right candidate, depending on skills and experience. Tenure progression is also available based on performance and experience.
