The ACT Caucus Support Centre is seeking a proactive, highly organised Communications Assistant to provide exceptional communications support to ACT Members of Parliament and the ACT Caucus Support Centre staff. This is a fast-paced and rewarding role at the heart of New Zealand’s democracy, based within the Parliamentary Precinct in Wellington.

About the ACT Caucus Support Centre
The ACT Leader’s Office (ALO) is funded through the Parliamentary Service. It supports the ACT Leader and ACT Members of Parliament in their parliamentary duties by providing a range of professional, timely, accurate, and high-quality political services, advice, and support. This includes:
- Outreach support – planning and delivering community engagement across the country
- Communications services (written, printed, and digital) for the ACT Leader, MPs, and their offices
- Research support and services for MPs
- Administrative support
About the Role
As a Communications Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring the ACT Caucus Support Centre runs smoothly, providing communications support to ACT Members of Parliament and staff to help them fulfil their parliamentary and public duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and scheduling social media posts
- Preparing and sending email updates
- Keeping website content current and accurate
- Managing contact databases
- Coordinating advertising placement
- Drafting statements and responses for media
- Supporting MPs and senior staff with a wide variety of communications tasks
- Other tasks with Parliamentary purpose as required
About You
You’re a calm and capable recent graduate who thrives in a busy, dynamic environment. You take initiative, pay close attention to detail, and can manage multiple priorities with diplomacy and discretion.
You will bring:
- Ideally a recent graduate
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational, planning, and time-management abilities
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and judgement
- The ability to build strong relationships and work well as part of a small, focused team
- A good understanding of Parliamentary or governmental processes (or a strong interest in learning)
