Mō te tīma | About the Team
The Parliamentary Engagement group brings together people from both the Office of the Clerk and Parliamentary Service to help connect Parliament with the people of Aotearoa New Zealand.
Within this, the Communications team plays a key role in supporting how Parliament communicates, both internally across the precinct and externally with the public, stakeholders, and media. We work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, helping teams and leaders deliver clear, accessible, and engaging communications.
Our focus is on making Parliament easier to understand and engage with, supporting the Parliamentary Engagement Strategy and contributing to a more open and accessible democracy.
Mō te tūnga | About the Role
We’re looking for a part time (0.5 FTE), fixed term Communications Advisor to join us from August until December during the E26 period. This role is focused on supporting business-as-usual communications, helping create capacity across the team so key E26 programme work can be delivered.
The idea person would have at least 2-3 years' experience with internal, external or media communications and
- Understand public sector relationships and communication needs
- Be collaborative and flexible
- Have an outcome-focused, problem-solving approach
This is a hands on, delivery focused role where you’ll provide practical communications advice and help plan and implement communications activities across a wide range of work. You’ll be supported by the wider team, but will also be able to take the lead in getting things done. You'll work closely with the Communications Lead and Senior Communications Advisor, while also taking ownership of your own workstreams.
You’ll be responsible for producing clear, audience focused content, supporting media and stakeholder activity, and ensuring communications are delivered at the right time, through the right channels, and in the right way.
This role would suit someone looking for a part time opportunity who is comfortable in a in a fast-paced environment, can hit the ground running, who enjoys variety and can confidently manage competing priorities while staying connected to a busy team.
