Mō te tūnga | About the Role:

You'll be joining our highly motivated and passionate kitchen, offering premium dining experiences in Parliament’s official restaurant, Bellamys. We pride ourselves on serving kiwi cuisine within a world class hospitality experience. As a Commis Chef, you'll play a key role by working closely with our Senior Chef's to master our diverse menu offerings.

  • Coordinating and preparing menu items and developing recipes in alignment with our culinary best practices, ensuring we maintain the highest standards of excellence and consistency across all dishes.
  • You'll be upholding impeccable hygiene, food quality, and discipline in our kitchens.
  • Minimise food waste through responsible usage of leftovers, expertly follow recipes, operate kitchen equipment, and excel in food and ingredient preparation, portioning, and garnishing.
  • You'll be managing competing priorities and demands, and you'll need be able to take feedback and work under pressure at times.

Tō kete | What You Will Bring to the Role:

  • 2 years’ experience in a Hat Awarded restaurant.
  • Drive the team’s success with your skills and experience from previous kitchen work and/or culinary studies – we are ideally looking for level 5 or above relevant qualification.
  • A passion for food and continuous learning; you'll bring a strong work ethic, detail orientation and organisation skills.
  • Partner with our diverse range of chefs and wider catering group to collaborate and contribute to our position team environment.

Te tīma | The Team:

The Parliamentary Catering Team is dedicated to showcasing New Zealand's premium hospitality services & products; and delivering memorable experiences at Parliament. The team manages several food and beverage venues within the Parliamentary precinct; each offering a different and unique experience; these include the Copperfield’s café, Pickwick's bar, and New Zealand's premium dining cuisine restaurant - Bellamys. A further function of the team is providing catering and hospitality services for the numerous functions that are held on the Parliamentary precinct.

The appointing salary range for this role is $57,174 to $66,638 per annum. Appointments will be based on skills and experience (please note, the full salary range extends beyond this to allow for tenure progression).
