The Research Services Team within the Corporate Services Group plays a key role in supporting Members of Parliament, parliamentary staff, and the public with trusted and impartial research, information, and analysis. Our mission is to ensure that Parliament has the accurate and timely information it needs to make informed decisions.

As part of a collaborative and dedicated team, you will contribute to a culture that values Integrity, Manaakitanga, Accountability, Whanaungatanga, and Empowerment, all while ensuring that the research services provided are aligned with the needs of our customers and the goals of the Parliamentary Service.

Mō te tūnga | About the Role

As a Library Service Adviser | Kaitohutohu Ratonga Pātaka Rangahau, you’ll be the first point of contact for library customers, manage service channels, and coordinate workflow across the Research Services Team.

This is a dynamic, front-facing role that blends customer service, coordination, and outreach. You’ll help ensure research requests are distributed across the team efficiently, coordinate deadlines, and support the promotion of library services and products. You’ll also play a key role in maintaining a strong customer service ethos and building relationships with a diverse array of customers across Parliament.

We’re looking for someone who’s bright, bubbly, and calm under pressure—a natural communicator who enjoys engaging with people at all levels, influencing outcomes, and juggling multiple tasks with confidence.

Ngā haepapa | Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer service channels and allocate research requests across the team
  • Build strong relationships with library customers and develop an understanding of their needs
  • Coordinate deadlines and manage expectations to ensure timely delivery of research responses
  • Support reporting, analytics, and continuous improvement of library services
  • Contribute to outreach, training, and promotion of library products and services
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide training on systems and processes
  • Assist with research requests and support quality assurance
  • Champion a customer-centric culture and uphold the library’s reputation for excellence

Tō kete | What You Will Bring

  • Strong customer service ethos and relationship management skills
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with confidence in public speaking
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Experience with case management systems and Microsoft products
  • An understanding of the parliamentary environment (preferred)
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline

Please note: This is a fixed-term role. The salary range for this position is $72,374 - $79,907 per annum, with the potential for the salary to exceed this range based on skills and experience.
