We have an exceptional opportunity for a fixed term position as an Ethnic Communities Engagement Advisor. We are looking for applicants with an understanding of our ethnic communities, politics, and cultural relationships to provide community engagement, stakeholder management, communications and outreach advice to the Labour's Ethnic Communities Caucus.

This is an exciting position for those who pride themselves on delivering high-quality and timely information, advice, and practical support. You will be passionate about building strong relationships and engaging with the ethnic communities. You will also provide timely information, advice, and practical support to the Parliamentary Labour Party Ethnic Communities Caucus.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role:

You will ideally have a wide range of experience in various forms of communications, including good writing skills. Above all else, nothing beats real-world and proven experience in community engagement, stakeholder management and communications. Your previous positions will have given you insights in how to be the collaborator, investigator, the go-to person and the driver for all things relating to communications and community engagement across ethnic communities. Ngā haepapa | Responsibilities:

  • Play a leading role in the development and implementation of the Ethnic Communities engagement and communication plan
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships to engage with ethnic communities, ethnic leaders, faith and religious leaders, young people and ethnic organisations
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to promote Labour values and policies to the public and other stakeholders across all platforms
  • Create and maintain a positive working environment and be a go-to for the Ethnic Communities Caucus, the Parliamentary Labour Leader’s Office and MPs for communications expertise

Appointments will be based on skills and experience. This role is for a 6-month fixed term and is based in Auckland. Salary: up to $90,000 pro rata, depending on experience and calibre.
