About Parliamentary Service

Our work is guided by our core values: Integrity, Manaakitanga, Accountability, Whanaungatanga, and Empowerment — ensuring we have the best people supporting the best Parliament in the world.

About the ACT Caucus Support Centre

The ACT Leader’s Office (ALO) is funded through the Parliamentary Service. It supports the ACT Leader and ACT Members of Parliament in their parliamentary duties by providing a range of professional, timely, accurate, and high-quality political services, advice, and support.

About the Role

As Executive Assistant, you will play a central role in ensuring your Members’ Parliamentary life runs smoothly and efficiently. You’ll manage complex schedules, coordinate travel, prepare briefings, and oversee office processes — ensuring that your MPs are always where they need to be, fully informed, and well prepared.

You’ll also act as a trusted liaison between the Member, constituents, and key stakeholders, helping to manage relationships, coordinate events, and maintain a professional and welcoming Parliamentary office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Members’ diary, meetings, and travel arrangements
  • Coordinate events, functions, and stakeholder meetings
  • Handle correspondence, emails, and office administration with confidentiality and discretion
  • Prepare briefing notes, agendas, and minutes
  • Monitor and report on budgets, expenses, and financial allocations
  • Liaise with constituents and community representatives on local and national issues
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

About You

You’re a calm and capable professional who thrives in a busy, dynamic environment. You take initiative, pay close attention to detail, and can manage multiple priorities with diplomacy and discretion.

You will bring:

  • 3–5 years’ experience in executive or high-level administrative support roles
  • Proven expertise in diary and travel management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational, planning, and time-management abilities
  • High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and judgement
  • The ability to build strong relationships and work well as part of a small, focused team
  • A good understanding of Parliamentary or governmental processes (or a strong interest in learning)

Why Join Us

This is a unique opportunity to work in a politically engaged, fast-moving environment where your contribution directly supports Members of Parliament in serving New Zealanders. Every day is different, and your work will make a visible impact.

You’ll be part of a small, motivated team that values initiative, professionalism, and collaboration — all within the iconic setting of the New Zealand Parliament.

If this sounds like you, apply now and help support the work of the ACT Party.
