Every day we transport millions of tonnes of critical freight around the country for our customers. We haul coal, intermodal containers, steel, and bulk commodities that keep Australia moving.

An opportunity has presented itself for a Principal Reliability Engineer – Rolling Stock to join our team. Sydney or Newcastle is preferred. However, candidates based in Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane or regional NSW will also be considered.

What You’ll Do

Improve fleet reliability and availability while reducing maintenance costs through reliability-centred maintenance and condition monitoring.

  • Lead FMECA, reliability-centred maintenance and condition monitoring activities.
  • Analyse incidents and reliability data to identify trends and critical failure modes.
  • Support maintenance teams with investigations and recommend improvements to maintenance tactics.
  • Monitor condition monitoring systems and equipment performance.
  • Develop reliability improvement programs with engineering and operational teams.
  • Provide technical recommendations for engineering designs, projects and process improvements.

What You’ll Bring

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, condition monitoring or a related discipline.
  • At least four years’ experience in maintenance and reliability engineering or equipment condition monitoring.
  • Practical experience applying FMECA, reliability-centred maintenance and condition monitoring techniques.
  • Experience in rail, mining, transport, oil and gas, heavy industry or another asset-intensive sector.
  • Strong data analysis, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
