Pacific National (PN) is the largest provider of diversified rail freight services in Australia. We haul a variety of freight including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and a range of bulk commodities and materials that keep the region’s economy, businesses and households running.

About the role

We are seeking to hire a qualified Terminal / Forklift Operator to join our team on a full-time basis at our Melbourne Freight Terminal. The role will report into the Supervisor and will be required to work rotating shift roster.

The key responsibility will be the loading and unloading of containerised rail freight trains and trucks. It is a 24/7 Rail operation with a rotating roster. You will be based out in the yard and will be required to operate in the most safe, efficient and productive manner.

About you

The successful candidate will display a strong regard to safety, demonstrate a positive and proactive attitude and be capable of working in a fast-paced environment. Successful candidates must be able and willing to work a 24/7 rotating roster. Candidates with existing experience operating Forklifts in a terminal environment is preferable.

As an ideal candidate, you will have the following.

  • High Risk Work License (CB, CN or RS)
  • A current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Proven strong customer service focus
  • High risk forklift license (LF)
  • Top Lift experience/Container freight experience would be advantageous but not essential
  • Warehouse experience would advantageous
