About the Role

An opportunity exists within our Maintenance Execution team, for an Under-Floor Lathe Operator (UFWL) / Wagon Maintainer to join the team based at our Nebo Train Support Facility.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effective operation of the “Under Floor Wheel Lathe” (UFWL), reprofiling of locomotive and wagon wheel sets
  • Maintenance and housekeeping of UFWL work area
  • Inspection and maintenance of fixed and mobile equipment
  • Carry out scheduled maintenance, inspection work, out of course repairs
  • Ensure on time availability of rolling stock, including the introduction of new wagon and technologies
  • Proactively working towards and supporting the achievement of safety goals

About You

In order to be successful in this role, ideal applicants will possess mechanical aptitude, strong problem-solving skills and good general literacy.

In addition, ideal applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Fitting or Mechanical Trade Certificate III
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Proven commitment to safety
  • Ability to work in a shift work environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • MR licence and Forklift ticket desirable
  • Valid QLD C class drivers license is a requirement
  • Background in transport, logistics, heavy industry or other related industries will be
