About the role

As the Wagon Maintenance Supervisor, you are responsible to plan and coordinate maintenance activities and resources allocated to the maintenance site, including activities on and off site.

In-line with this, you will ensure that all safety requirements are achieved, and all work is carried out in accordance with Pacific National technical and quality standards.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensure, comply and promote the Safety Health and Environment of the site through the implementation and maintenance of organisational systems, programs and procedures. Continually review and update site-specific safety processors and strive for improved safety performance.
  • Manage the daily production to achieve the business division’s wagon requirements in an efficient manner; this shall include appropriate resource allocation.
  • Coordinate the whole work area including:
  1. Activities for the PMs/repairs to wagons out of service.
  2. Activities for the repairs to plant and equipment within workshop
  3. Setting of work priorities for the team in a shift-by-shift basis
  • Liaise with the Nebo Capacity Planner and develop weekly and daily resource plans to achieve requirements.
  • Liaise with the customer/ business divisions planning and production staff to coordinate wagon placement, release forecasting and wagon pick up.
  • Undertake wagon preventative maintenance, repairs and incident response.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with safety, technical and quality standards.
  • Ensure staff and contractors under their control comply with Pacific National policy and procedures.
  • Supervise and handle grievances within the local work area.
  • Manage repairs in line with the depot budget.
  • Liaise with Maintenance Planners/Technical Personnel on wagon issues.
  • Ensure that the requirements of the service level agreements are complied with.

About you

You will be an excellent and articulate communicator with appropriate maintenance background and people management experience whilst demonstrating exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills. 

In addition, you will have:

  • Appropriate related trade background or engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience in maintenance management, preferably in a rail industry/related transport environment.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in rolling stock performance, technical details and maintenance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in supervision of trade and non-trade employees on and off site.
  • Frontline management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise varied maintenance tasks to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a maintenance budget.
