We are seeking a dedicated Locomotive Driver to join our team at the Keswick Passenger Terminal. This role involves working as a shunt driver with occasional mainline movements. Your primary objective will be to prepare, manage, and operate locomotives and trains safely, adhering to your level of competency, safe working qualifications, and Pacific National’s operational procedures and agreements to meet customer and operational requirements. This position will be based at Keswick passenger terminal as a shunt driver with some mainline movements required.

What You will do:

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure trains are delivered in-full and on-time (DIFOT).
  • Prepare and operate locomotives safely and in compliance with procedures and documentation.
  • Support and promote a strong safety culture aligned with company values.
  • Uphold operational standards and contribute to continuous improvement.

What you will bring to the role:

  • Proven rail industry / freight/ mainline driving experience – SA route qualification is desired
  • Cert IV (4) in Train Driving is required (please include Cert IV in Train Driving in your application)
  • Display a high regard for safety in the workplace – safe work qualification in SA is desired
  • A positive and supportive attitude when working within a team environment
  • A basic level of computer literacy
  • A focus on customer needs and supporting continuous improvement
  • A current full motor vehicle licence
  • Available and flexible to work a 24/7 roster
