About the role

Reporting to the Manager Locomotive Fleet Performance and Sustainability, you will play a vital role within Pacific National’s asset management function that will have direct accountability and responsibility for the technical and commercial aspects of our business’s locomotive maintenance contracts.

You will oversee a team of experienced Engineers and Contract Managers, to ensure maintenance contracts deliver the desired outcome for Pacific National’s customer needs.

Your key responsibilities may include, however are not limited to:

  • Leadership & Team Management: Focus on providing direction, mentorship, and support 
  • Reliability Engineering Oversight: Ensuring the development and execution of reliability improvement strategies for the locomotive fleet while overseeing the implementation of predictive and preventative maintenance programs to minimize locomotive downtime.
  • Maintenance Contract Management: Manage locomotive maintenance contracts, ensuring adherence to contract terms and conditions, compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental standards in all maintenance and reliability activities.
  • Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Drive Innovation by adopting emerging technologies and industry best practice to enhance maintenance and reliability strategies.

To be successful in this role:

  • Mechanical/Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent
  • 5 + years’ experience working in the Rail, Mining or other asset intensive industries
  • Contract management experience and/or exposure to complex supplier contracts
  • Leadership experience, managing engineering/technical teams with a reliability focus
  • Exceptional communication and numeracy skills
  • Sound administrative skills, with the ability to use computers to assist with work
  • Ability to lead and manage numerous internal and external stakeholders
