An outstanding opportunity has presented itself for a Train Crew Development Specialist, with a current Cert IV in Train Driving and a Cert IV in Training & Assessment to lead train crew development, based at our Coppabella depot.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the Superintendent, you will deliver hands-on and classroom training, assess competency, and work closely with supervisors to ensure safe, high-performing operations.

  • Plan, prioritise and deliver compliant technical driver training
  • Train, assess and mentor train crew to meet Rail Safety Worker competency requirements
  • Develop and manage individual training plans aligned to operational needs
  • Ensure competencies, assessments, currency and records are completed on time
  • Work closely with Operational Leaders and Training Specialists to ensure consistent outcomes
  • Promote a strong safety culture and knowledge-sharing environment

What you’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Mainline or Mentor Driver (currently accredited)
  • Strong track record of safe locomotive operations
  • Current Cert IV in Train Driving (please upload during application process)
  • Cert IV in Training & Assessment (TAE)
  • Strong commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement
  • Ability to coach, assess and mentor others effectively
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office and training/compliance systems)
  • Clear and confident communication skills at all levels
