About the role

Reporting to the Business Development Lead – Bulk, the Sales Manager position exists to deliver profitable growth through the expansion of existing services in the assigned portfolio of major accounts as well as deliver profitable growth through the implementation of new product and logistic solutions in existing and new customers.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Adding value to the Pacific National Bulk BD Team by embracing our PNA and achieving sales performance outcomes specific to customer retention and new business development targets.
  • Leading key account management of existing customers allocated to your portfolio.
  • Building customer advocacy and unlocking innovative opportunities to add value to your customers.
  • Growing share of wallet with existing customers through bespoke rail haulage commercial solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic key account plans to inform the growth pipeline.
  • Identifying new business development opportunities, developing engagement strategies, and securing new business.
  • Maintaining existing and new customer opportunities within PN’s CRM and ensuring compliance with company policies.

About you

For this role, we are seeking a savvy, commercially focused Business Development professional that brings a strategic and continuous improvement mindset. Candidates will possess a transport/ logistics, intermodal freight, or container supply chain background, combined with demonstrated experience identifying and securing new opportunities and budling relationships with key customers.

The successful candidate will also possess the following skills, experience, and attributes:

  • Demonstrated proven experience in sales and key account management, ideally in large, complex organisations.
  • Strong experience in direct customer contact and negotiation, and in building strong relationships with customers at senior levels.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen and question.
  • Ability to negotiate and follow-through on client contracts.
  • Proven planning and time management skills, and experience working towards measurable sales targets.
  • Strong analytical ability and proficiency with CRM systems.
