We are seeking a dedicated Locomotive Driver to join our team at the Parkes Intermodal Terminal. Your primary objective will be to prepare, manage, and operate locomotives and trains safely, adhering to your level of competency, safe working qualifications, and Pacific National’s operational procedures and agreements to meet customer and operational requirements.
As part of our Intermodal business, you will be responsible for driving freight trains from Parkes to locations such as Sydney and Broken Hill including barracks stays, in addition, you will assist with local shifts at our Parkes Logistics Terminal. You will be working a 9-day forecasted roster. There will be opportunities for career development, we have several new Trainee Drivers who will require Driver Mentors, and if you are interested in Supervising, we have pathways available.
What You will do:
- Proactively working towards and supporting the achievement of safety goals.
- Provisioning and preparing locomotives for train operations including checking and testing control systems as well as preparing relevant compliance documentation.
- Performing and maintaining locomotive train operations in accordance with specifications and procedures.
- On-going commitment to company values of safety, accountability, integrity, and teamwork.
What you will bring to the role:
- Proven rail industry / freight/ mainline driving experience
- Cert IV(4) in Train Driving is required
- Display a high regard for safety in the workplace – safe work qualification in NSW is desired
- A positive and supportive attitude when working within a team environment
- A basic level of computer literacy
- A focus on customer needs and supporting continuous improvement
- A current full motor vehicle licence
- Available and flexible to work a 24/7 roster, including barracks working
