About us
Pacific National (PN) is the largest private provider of diversified rail freight services in Australia. We haul a variety of freight including coal, intermodal containers, steel, and a range of bulk commodities and materials that keep the region’s economy, businesses and households running.
The role
We are seeking applicants with a Certificate IV in train driving or Driver assistants with partial qualifications of a Certificate IV to join our train crew in Cootamundra. We also encourage candidates who are interested in starting their career in the rail industry to apply. This opportunity will provide training in all aspects of safe and efficient locomotive operations to develop the requisite driver skillset through competency-based assessments and on and off the job training.
You will be upskilled with knowledge to prepare, manage and operate locomotives and trains safely, and comply with established operational procedures in order to maintain our high level of customer service delivery for customers.
What You will do:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure trains are delivered in-full and on-time (DIFOT).
- Prepare and operate locomotives safely and in compliance with procedures and documentation.
- Support and promote a strong safety culture aligned with company values.
- Maintain high operational standards and contribute to continuous improvement.
What you will bring to the role:
- Proven rail industry / freight/ mainline driving experience is preferred
- Evidence of completed or progress of your CERT IV(4) in Train Driving is preferred
- Display a high regard for safety in the workplace – safe work qualification in NSW is desired
- A positive and supportive attitude when working within a team environment
- A basic level of computer literacy
- A focus on customer needs and supporting continuous improvement
- A current full motor vehicle licence
- Available and flexible to work a 24/7 roster
