About the Role

The Asset Planning Specialist has key accountability for the effective coordination of all rollingstock maintenance within the portfolio.

  • Efficiently adjusting locomotive and wagons maintenance activities within the time horizon of 7 days for optimal business performance, consolidating maintenance tasks and utilisation of assets
  • Switch from plan maintenance to plan recovery when disruptive events happen
  • Reschedule maintenance activities to ensure compliance with maintenance standards
  • Update FMS as required with necessary information
  • Responsible for effective & efficient deployment of assets resources to meet the customer service plan
  • Rolling asset maintenance
  • Update systems as required with necessary information
  • As a specialist, provide expertise for other Service Delivery team members as required on decisions impacting assets made in the live environment

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in maintenance planning/scheduling with proven ability to understand the required sequence of events to meet business needs
  • Experience in heavy industry/transport or other industry where heavy vehicles are deployed
  • Relevant demonstrated experience in the planning/service delivery aspect of complex rail operations (desirable)
  • Ability to understand technical discussions regarding assets
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external customers

In addition:

  • Flexibility to work a rotating 12 hour shift pattern
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively using multiple mediums (phone, email, text messages, etc)
  • Intermediate level computer skills, with a background in transport or labour (rostering) management systems and/or reporting systems advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team
  • Confidence to review and assess available information and to make appropriate decisions
  • An interest in pursuing a long career in Transport and Logistics is highly advantageous
