An opportunity has presented itself for a hands-on, safety-focused Wagon Maintainer to join our Parkes team. This critical team plays a vital role in ensuring the on-time availability of Pacific National rolling stock, as well as supporting the introduction of new wagons and technologies. 

What You’ll Do

Hands-on wagon maintenance supporting safe and reliable rail operations.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will:

• Perform scheduled and unscheduled wagon maintenance, inspections, and repairs
• Respond to breakdowns, faults, and emergency recovery work
• Carry out heating, cutting and welding activities
• Conduct mechanical and electrical fault-finding and testing
• Operate mobile plant, lifting equipment and vehicles
• Fabricate and assemble components for repair or modification
• Complete unit train, roll-by, and FX inspections as required
• Liaise with planners, contractors and operators to coordinate wagon movements
• Support locomotive provisioning activities

What You’ll Bring 

• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
• Current C Class Driver’s Licence (essential)
• Forklift/MR Licence (advantageous)
• Basic computer skills
• Training provided – bring a positive attitude, we’ll teach the rest.
• Heavy industry experience (e.g. boilermaker) is a plus – but not required.
