About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Wagon Maintenance Coordinator has key accountability for the efficient coordination of the Maintainer workforce on a shift-by-shift basis. The roster will rotate across day/Night shifts, operating Monday – Sunday.

You’ll be expected to work with the Maintenance Supervisor and Maintainers to ensure that wagon maintenance requirements are met safely and effectively. Wagon Maintainers are required to carry out scheduled maintenance, inspection work, out of course repairs and respond to emergency recoveries on the rail network.

The main objective of this essential team is to ensure on time availability of Pacific National rolling stock, including the introduction of new wagon and technologies. Applicants must be able to work on a 12 hour day/night shift, rotating roster basis.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of task allocation and setting of work priorities across the team on a shift-by-shift basis
  • Preparation of maintenance documentation, project plans and resource allocations for modification programs
  • Assist in the creation of methods and procedures to improve safety and workshop effectiveness
  • Ensure wagon maintenance is undertaken in accordance with the appropriate technical standard practices and procedures
  • Liaise with key stakeholders and business divisions for timely clearing and placing of wagons into facility
  • Handle grievances within the local work area
  • Allocates work permits to contractors and ensures compliance with Pacific National specifications

About you

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be able to demonstrate a solid commitment to safety, mechanical aptitude and a demonstrated customer focus.

In addition, you’ll be expected to demonstrate:

  • Planning and/or Maintenance experience in related industries is desirable
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team is essential
  • Current HR Class Drivers Licence is essential or obtained within 3 months.
  • Forklift Licence is essential or obtained within 3 months.
  • Intermediate to high level computer skills including Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
