An opportunity has presented itself for Commercial Solutions Analyst to join our team based in our head office in North Sydney.
What You’ll Do
Reporting to the Commercial Solutions Manager, the Commercial Solutions Analyst is responsible for driving commercially sound, insight‑led decisions that maximise value from Rail Haulage Agreements and customer solutions.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Partner with Key Account Managers, Operations, Finance and other stakeholders to understand customer requirements and operating solutions.
- Build and maintain robust financial models to assess the feasibility, profitability and risk profile of rail haulage contracts.
- Design competitive commercial solutions and terms that meet customer needs while delivering optimal value for Pacific National.
- Assess market pricing, alternative pricing structures and customer next‑best alternatives.
- Prepare internal governance papers for submission to Executive and Board committees.
- Review Rail Haulage Agreements to identify potential revenue leakage and ensure pricing, billing and contract terms are applied accurately.
- Support contract implementation by monitoring compliance with commercial terms, service levels commitment and charging rights.
- Identify opportunities for additional services, upselling or renegotiation where service delivery exceeds contractual commitments.
- Contribute to post‑investment reviews and continuous improvement of commercial models and processes.
- Actively demonstrate and role‑model behaviours aligned to Pacific National’s safety‑first culture.
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related discipline.
- CA, CPA or similar qualification (preferred).
- 4+ years of experience in commercial analysis, pricing or financial modelling within transport, logistics, infrastructure or a capital‑intensive environment.
- Strong financial modelling skills, including discounted cash flow analysis and capital investment assessment.
- Proven ability to interpret complex contract terms, analyse financial data and identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- A highly analytical, detail‑driven mindset with a focus on high accuracy and precision in contract review and analysis, balanced with practical commercial judgement.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with confidence working across all organisational levels, including Executive and Board.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate insights and recommendations through both oral and written presentations.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills (think‑cell experience desirable).
- A proactive, self‑motivated approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability delivering high-quality results while consistently meeting deadlines.
