About the role

The Customer Support team operates in a matrix style environment and are part of the national Commercial team within the Intermodal Division. The Intermodal Division is responsible for freight forwarding services which includes general interstate forwarding activities, as well as specified freight services such as express, refrigerated services, steel, and specialist services to the automotive industry. The Intermodal division covers a geographically diverse area with operations including terminals and depots in all mainland States in Australia.

Reporting to the Sydney Freight Terminal Team Leader, Intermodal, the purpose of the position is to manage the availability of equipment for our customers to hire/lease. The equipment includes Trailers and Containers which may include refrigerated, mezzanine, hard and soft sided, the position includes coordination of pickup and delivery of this equipment. In addition, this role is responsible for tracking the movement of every container of which there is approximately 500 containers in circulation.

Reporting into the Team Leader, key responsibilities of the Customer Service Officer include:

  • Manage all customer enquiries with a lateral thinking and solutions focussed mindset.
  • Actively seek to understand our customers business requirements and confidently align their needs with a suitable Pacific National service offering.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of capacity and asset utilisation for Intermodal customers.
  • Liaise with customers to understand their specific requirements and prepare and allocate workorders for pickup and delivery.
  • Liaise with transport vendors, drivers and allocated the pickup and deliver requests.
  • Monitor assets during trips ensuring working order and address any anomalies.
  • Arrange and record equipment maintenance as scheduled and ensure all equipment is maintained according to scheduled requirements and address any exceptions.
  • Actively develop and distribute regular customer communications on potential service disruptions including resolution options aligned to the Pacific National service offering. 

Candidates must be available to work rotating 8-hour shifts from Monday to Friday, with hours spanning from 6am through to 7pm. Start and finish times may change each week. Some weekend work may be required but not full days.

About you

With a customer service and logistics background, you will have a proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships with both internal and external customers. You will have at least 2 years' experience in a busy Fleet Management or customer service environment.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, attributes, and experience:

  • 2 plus years' experience in a similar role or in a customer service environment.
  • Passion and natural ability for providing high-level customer service.
  • Logistics system experience highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • High attention to detail and problem solving / critical thinking skills.
  • Solid proficiency with MS Office and desktop computer skills.
  • Superior customer service skills with the ability to build and maintain successful working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
  • Ability to set personal workload priorities, observe time constraints, plan, and coordinate adherence to deadlines.
