The Opportunity

As a Tech Lead at oOh!Media, you will oversee the team supporting and enhancing our range of critical campaign trading and delivery systems, ensuring the smooth operation of the business. You will play a pivotal role in defining standards and procedures, running code reviews, technical troubleshooting, and implementing modern architectural patterns such as Event-Based Architectures with EventBridge. You'll work with modern technologies including Go and Svelte to build scalable, maintainable solutions. This position requires a blend of advanced technical expertise, strong leadership, and exceptional problem-solving abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Lead the development and deployment of business-critical software applications using event-driven architectures.
  • Design and implement scalable systems utilising modern programming languages.
  • Set and maintain high standards for code quality, test automation, and performance.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to team members.
  • Ensure platforms are maintained to address emerging security concerns.
  • Drive the adoption of modern front-end frameworks like Svelte for efficient and responsive UI development.

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

  • Address complex technical issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
  • Analyze system performance, especially around event-driven workflows, and implement improvements.
  • Ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of applications, leveraging event-based architectures and cloud services.

People Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of developers, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions.
  • Facilitate team collaboration and communication.
  • Recruit, onboard, and train new team members with expertise in event-driven systems, Go, Svelte, and cloud technologies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Lead Developer, Senior Software Engineer, or similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Node.js, Go, and front end frameworks like Svelte and React.
  • Deep understanding of event-based architecture patterns, with experience using AWS Serverless patterns such as EventBridge, Step Functions, Lambda Functions, DynamoDB, and OpenSearch.
  • Solid knowledge of database systems (SQL, Postgres) and cloud platforms, especially AWS.
  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially in distributed, event-driven environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor engineers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
