You’ll work alongside a group of talented individuals across Australia and New Zealand, all of whom are dedicated to raising the bar. About the opportunity:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Based in North Sydney or South Melbourne

We’re looking for a talented and people‑focused Engineering Manager to lead, mentor and grow a team of high‑performing software engineers at oOh!media. If you’re passionate about coaching engineers, fostering a supportive and innovative team culture, and guiding delivery of modern, scalable technology solutions — this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a business that’s transforming how Out of Home media works.

As an Engineering Manager, you’ll play a central role in shaping the performance, growth, and culture of a team of 3–6 engineers. You’ll provide exceptional people leadership while maintaining enough technical context to support architectural discussions and problem‑solving across event‑driven, serverless‑first environments (Golang, CDK, Svelte).

Working closely with Product, Design, Delivery and your fellow Engineering leadership, you’ll balance Building (20%), Guiding (50%), and Leading (30%) — with a strong focus on nurturing talent, enabling delivery excellence, and removing blockers to help your team do its best work. Your leadership will contribute directly to the quality, reliability and innovation of solutions across oOh!media’s technology ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of 3–6 software engineers, including 1:1s, performance reviews, coaching and career progression
  • Maintain relevant technical context through selective hands‑on work and architectural input
  • Foster a psychologically safe, collaborative and growth‑oriented team culture
  • Recruit, interview and onboard new engineers
  • Support and coach Senior Engineers (L3) as they take on Technical Lead responsibilities
  • Partner with Product Owners and Delivery Leads to coordinate team delivery and remove blockers
  • Represent your team in cross-functional discussions and communicate status, risks and wins to stakeholders
  • Align with Engineering and Technology leadership to drive best practice and consistent ways of working

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven technical leadership experience, including direct people management
  • A strong foundation in modern software engineering practices and cloud platforms (AWS)
  • Experience coaching, developing and uplifting engineering capability within diverse teams
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to influence across technical and business contexts
  • Familiarity with agile delivery, DORA/FLOW metrics and effective team prioritisation
  • Experience with some or all of the following tech stack:
  • Golang, TypeScript/Node.js, Svelte/React/Vue
  • SQL/NoSQL databases (Postgres, DynamoDB, MongoDB)
  • Experience in Out of Home media or advertising a plus (but not essential)

Our benefits and perks:

  • Competitive salary package
  • A positive, supportive workplace culture
  • Professional growth and development opportunities
  • Comprehensive, paid training and ongoing support

If you’re curious, ready for a unique challenge, and want to make a real impact, we want to hear from you!

At oOh!, we celebrate diversity and strive for an inclusive environment. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and refugees.

To be considered, applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents with full working rights in Australia, and all offers of employment are subject to employer-funded pre-employment checks including police, reference, and work rights verification, with additional checks such as credit, bankruptcy, drug and alcohol screening, or driver’s licence verification required for some roles.
