About the opportunity:
- Permanent Full-Time role
- Based in North Sydney
We are seeking a talented Data Scientist with a strong background in operations research to join our Technology team. You will play a key role in the research, development, and deployment of sophisticated mathematical models that influence strategic decision-making, revenue, and the experience of brands and audiences across Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities and Experience:
- Model Development: Develop and deploy mathematical optimisation models—both linear and mixed integer programs.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
- Testing: Design and conduct A/B experiments to stress-test and validate model assumptions.
- Analysis: Analyse large datasets to extract meaningful insights and support data-driven decision-making.
- Communication: Communicate results and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reporting and visualisations.
You Will Also Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another highly quantitative degree.
- Optimisation: Proven experience in mathematical optimisation in an industrial or research setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or Julia and database languages such as SQL.
- Solvers: Familiarity with Gurobi, CPLEX, or other solvers.
- Nice to have: A background in Operations Research and experience with modern big data platforms like Databricks or Snowflake.
