Your Chapter Purpose
The Engineering function houses the capabilities and roles necessary to develop the Digital ecosystem platform which includes front-end, back-end, cloud and platform capabilities embedded throughout. The specific skillsets will vary based on the technology and the tech being used, as well as how it aligns to the cross-functional teams. Engineering is responsible for establishing engineering practices within the Digital Ecosystem.
What you’ll be doing
The Engineer will be responsible for designing robust and scalable architecture, implementing comprehensive and secure APIs, and finding well-designed solutions to complex problems. Ensuring it is secure, accessible, easy to use, scalable, cost efficient and aligned to the Digital Ecosystem vision and customer value proposition.
Key duties and deliverables:
- Hands-on implementation of technical designs to see through its testing and deployment into various environments
- Collaborate with team to develop and implement new features to help grow the Ecosystem, ensuring these features are scalable and meet the needs of the Digital Ecosystem and our customers
- Maintain an up to date view of the technology industry trends and developments
- Use robust coding practices, solid unit/component test coverage, and debugging code
- Follow standards and engineering best practices, support operational activities such as process automation and compliance activities
- Assist with deployment processes and the developer experience
- Review and elaborate business requirements from a technical perspective and determine technical solutions
- Ability to write tested, maintainable code for back-end tech stack (AWS/Golang) with a focus on reusability and modern best practices
- Improve and refine existing product functionality and user experience elements
- Contribute to team standards, frameworks, and tools
- Demonstrate willingness to help others and work outside of core competencies when needed, such as front end development or testing
- Improve and refine existing site functionality and user experience elements by participate in monitoring, support, and continuous improvement of the production environment
What you will need
- Knowledge of architecture practices and Back-End design
- Proficient with unit testing frameworks
- Background in software engineering and design patterns, and microservices and serverless architecture
- Knowledge in architecture patterns such as; CQRS, event-sourcing
- Good with API and its design/protocol e.g. Restful, Websocket, GraphQL, SOAP
- Understanding of cloud native architecture
- Knowledge in databases and clustering - SQL, NOSQL
- Effective communicator and ability to work as part of a cross functional team
- Familiarity with AWS ecosystem and commonly used services
- Good understanding of operational tooling e.g. APM, log-aggregators and alerting
- Ability to effectively communicate concerns when things don’t feel “right”
- Demonstrated success working with agile and Lean methodologies
