The Opportunity

The Staff Engineer – Quality is responsible for driving quality engineering practices throughout the engineering team, providing guidance and leadership to team members and enabling the rapid delivery of high-quality features through automated and scalable quality processes. Their focus should be on the prevention of issues rather than discovery after the fact, changing the way that people think about quality by shifting to the left and influencing our shared “definition of done”.

What you’ll be doing

• Coach the delivery teams on how to carry out high quality automated testing of the team’s deliverables
• Lead the capability uplift of exploratory testing by conducting hands on sessions with the team throughout the delivery cycle
• Drive knowledge uplift in areas such as performance testing and security testing
• Provide the tooling and support to delivery teams for a good developer experience around testing
• Developing an automation roadmap and building an automation framework that scales and caters to functional and operational needs by levering proper tools and technology 
• Maintain and update the overall test strategy based on functional and technical specifications. Monitor and test strategy execution and adjust it as and when needed
• Provide leadership to our quality engineers and guide them to success & growth
• Work closely with the stakeholder to understand goals, requirements, and architecture of the project
• Maintain an up to date view of the technology industry trends and developments
• Establish standards and engineering best practices, support operational activities such as process automation and compliance activities
• Improve and refine existing product functionality and user experience elements by participating in monitoring, support, and continuous improvement of the production environment

What you'll bring to the table

• Proven ability to lead and coach others
• Aptitude in presenting and promoting ideas in a diverse environment, with senior stakeholders and across the group
• Capable of driving quality best practices within cross-functional teams
• Experience in advocating software quality
• Experience with functional, performance and security testing with automated CI/CD testing environment
• Experience with breaking stories down into testable requirements
• Understanding of cloud architecture and modern web and mobile application design

Equipment/Technology used

• AWS, Docker
• Pact or Pact flow
• Automation tools like Playwright, WebdriverIO, Cypress or TestCafe
• Device Farms like LambdaTest, Saucelabs, BrowserStack or Bitbar
• Performance testing tools like K6, locust or gatling
• Fluency in languages like Typescript, Python or Golang
