This is a rare opportunity to join the Office of the Clerk, on a fixed term contract, supporting a senior leader and the wider organisation at the heart of New Zealand’s democracy — and 2026 is shaping up to be a particularly exciting year for Parliament. 

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

We are seeking a highly capable Executive Assistant to provide high‑quality, customer‑focused support to a senior manager, governance committees, and the organisation’s corporate functions.

This is a trusted, influential role where you will operate with a high degree of autonomy, anticipate needs, manage complexity, and keep things moving in a dynamic and highly visible environment. You’ll be comfortable engaging confidently with senior leaders, operational managers, stakeholders across Parliament, and partner agencies.

  • Provide end‑to‑end executive support to the Clerk Assistant, including complex diary and inbox management, meeting preparation, follow‑ups, and proactive issue management.
  • Prepare high‑quality written material such as correspondence, reports, presentations, agendas and minutes.
  • Coordinate group‑wide meetings, functions, travel, and logistics.
  • Support financial and corporate processes including governance and management meetings, budgeting support, invoices, and compliance reporting.
  • Act as a key coordination point across the organisation, maintaining records, managing workflows, and ensuring information is accurate and timely.
  • Liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders, including the Parliamentary Service, Audit NZ, contractors, and other public sector agencies.

The appointing base salary for this role is from $72,229 - $79,846 per annum. This is a full time, fixed term role until early October 2026.
