About the role: 

We are seeking to appoint a passionate Agriculture Tutor who will provide teaching and learning experiences in which our students will be highly engaged. This position is for the delivery of our flagship Level 2 Agriculture Programme.

The successful applicant must be able to facilitate engaging teaching and learning to Agriculture students who vary in age, gender, cultural backgrounds and learning abilities; from those re-entering the workforce to young people who are starting on their tertiary education journey. It is critical that the successful applicant is able to display ongoing empathy for learners and provide a fun, safe and engaging learning environment.

Learners at our Hastings Land Based Training School complete their studies equipped with the skills and knowledge to progress onto higher levels of education and to enter the workforce.

This is a full-time, permanent role, based in Hastings.

 

Required Skills/Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Previous experience in a variety of Agriculture environments (i.e. Sheep and Beef Farm Systems, Vehicles, Machinery and Infrastructure)
  • Hold a minimum Level 3 Agriculture or equivalent qualifications.
  • Previous experience in roles where the engagement of youth has been paramount.
  • Previous teaching experience in the tertiary sector, desirable but not essential.
  • Gained the National Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education or other adult teaching qualifications; or a commitment to gaining appropriate qualifications (with support from Land Based Training).
  • A high level ability to engage and excite learners, by making learning fun and interactive; your learners will want to come back for more.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
