Senior AI EngineerHybrid

Our client in the Financial Services sector is looking for an experienced AI Engineer to design and implement Generative AI and machine learning solutions within their Risk Technology environment.

This role focuses on building intelligent systems that support risk analytics, regulatory interpretation, knowledge extraction, and workflow automation. You will work closely with risk specialists, quantitative teams, and technology stakeholders to develop scalable AI solutions that integrate with enterprise platforms and improve operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-driven agents and assistants for risk and technology teams.
• Build and optimise RAG pipelines including document ingestion, embeddings, vector search, and evaluation frameworks.
• Develop NLP solutions to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate them into technology requirements.
• Create APIs and microservices to expose AI capabilities across enterprise systems.
• Build chatbots and conversational interfaces for internal users.
• Implement AI governance, monitoring, and guardrails to ensure responsible and secure AI deployment.
• Collaborate with engineering, data, and risk teams to deliver production-grade AI solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years experience in AI/ML, data engineering, or software engineering delivering production systems.
• Hands-on experience building GenAI applications, agents, or RAG-based solutions.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or Scala and experience building APIs and microservices.
• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, NLP, and prompt engineering.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and containerisation using Docker/Kubernetes.
• Strong SQL and data engineering skills, including ETL and data modelling.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams in regulated environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with enterprise chatbots or AI assistants.
• Familiarity with trading or risk platforms.
• Understanding of market risk concepts (VaR, Greeks, P&L explain, FRTB).
• Certifications in Cloud, AI/ML, or financial risk (FRM, CFA, CQF).
