About the Role

As a Technical Officer (Hardware), you will provide specialist support for Defence’s Minerva systems, ensuring mission-critical ICT hardware remains secure, reliable, and operational in all conditions. From diagnosing and resolving complex incidents, managing vendor repairs (Dell, HP, Cisco), to proactively maintaining hardware and mentoring technical staff, this role is central to ensuring system resilience in demanding environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve complex ICT hardware issues quickly and effectively
• Manage vendor warranty processes and coordinate hardware repairs
• Test, patch, upgrade, and reintegrate hardware into serviceable stock
• Work within Defence security protocols and patch management frameworks
• Create and maintain SOPs, build guides, and technical documentation
• Train and mentor onsite staff, including supporting ship CIS teams
• Build and deploy Minerva hardware for set-to-work activities
• Ensure SLAs are met by effectively managing incident priorities

What You Bring

• Strong knowledge of ICT hardware, vendor warranty processes, and asset management
• Excellent communication skills—able to collaborate across Defence and industry partners
• Ability to write clear, concise, and effective technical documentation
• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt under pressure
• Familiarity with Cisco networking, HYCU Backup, Microsoft, Red Hat, Nutanix, Netbox, or Elastic monitoring
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift
• Exposure to highly regulated, secure ICT environments (Defence experience highly regarded)
• Previous Minerva system experience
