We are looking for a Security Architect to join a high-impact Defence project, helping shape security controls, assess risks, and drive system accreditation across cutting-edge IT environments.

In this role, you’ll work closely with a multi-disciplinary team and Defence stakeholders to design and implement secure solutions, providing your expertise to ensure compliance with DSPF, ISM, and Essential 8 standards. Your contributions will be critical to the success of a rewarding, complex project.

What You’ll Do:

  • Translate security requirements into design artefacts that guide development.
  • Collaborate with architecture and design teams to align solutions with security principles.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for security topics and advise stakeholders.
  • Drive discovery and definition of security controls, and review their implementation.
  • Coordinate with technical teams to engineer secure solutions.
  • Monitor system development for compliance with security standards.
  • Prepare documentation to support accreditation processes.

What You Bring:

  • Strong experience in security architecture and technology, including designing and critiquing complex systems.
  • Proven ability to assess cyber security risks and implement effective controls in both traditional ICT and operational technology (OT) environments.
  • Experience in software development or DevOps teams and working in project delivery environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Commonwealth security policies, ISM requirements, and Essential 8 strategies.
  • Experience operating in Government secure environments.

Desirable Extras:

  • Exposure to Agile and/or Waterfall project delivery.
  • Infrastructure as code experience.
  • Familiarity with network and security monitoring platforms.
  • Leadership or support experience in Agile teams.
