We’re seeking a Senior Application Database Administrator to join a high-performing technology team supporting critical enterprise platforms in a complex, large-scale environment.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in managing and optimising mission-critical IBM Db2 databases hosted on AWS, driving database performance, reliability, security, and continuous improvement across enterprise applications.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Administer and maintain IBM Db2 databases hosted on AWS RDS, ensuring high availability, security, and performance
- Manage database provisioning, upgrades, patching, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies
- Monitor and optimise database performance using CloudWatch, Enhanced Monitoring, and diagnostic tools
- Troubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement preventative actions
- Perform query tuning, indexing, performance optimisation, and workload management
- Support database releases, migrations, and cloud-based deployments
- Collaborate with developers, architects, and infrastructure teams to optimise database solutions
- Develop automation scripts, operational runbooks, and technical documentation
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and escalation support within the DBA team
What We’re Looking For
- 8+ years’ experience in Database Administration with strong IBM Db2 focus
- Extensive hands-on experience with IBM Db2 in enterprise environments
- Strong expertise in AWS RDS for Db2 / Cloud Database Platforms
- Proven experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis
- Strong understanding of Db2 architecture, storage, tablespaces, indexing, and workload management
- Experience with backup/recovery, HADR, replication, and disaster recovery strategies
- Solid experience managing Db2 on LUW and/or z/OS
- Experience automating DBA tasks through scripting/automation tools
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
Highly Regarded
- IBM Db2 / SQL Certifications or equivalent
- Experience with Kubernetes / OpenShift / Container Platforms
- Exposure to AWS ECS / EKS / Lambda / API Gateway / CloudWatch
- Experience with Mulesoft integration
- Experience working within protected / secure enterprise environments
Mandatory Requirement
- Baseline Security Clearance is required for success in the role
