Java Backend Developer

Location: Sydney (preferred), Melbourne

Contract Duration: Initial 12 Months (with potential extension)

About the Role:

We are seeking experienced Java & Spring Boot Backend Developers to join our client's team on a 12-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity to work on scalable, high- impact applications within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java and Spring Boot
• Build and optimize RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including frontend developers, QA, and DevOps
• Ensure code quality through best practices, code reviews, and testing
• Troubleshoot and resolve performance and scalability issues
• Contribute to system design and technical decision-making

Required Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in Java (8 or above)
• Hands-on expertise with Spring Boot and related frameworks (Spring MVC, Spring Data, etc.)
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices
• Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle
• Knowledge of containerization tools like Docker (Kubernetes is a plus)
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git)

Nice to Have:

• Experience with financial services domain
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
• Exposure to messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ
