We’re looking for a hands-on Data Engineer with strong Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric experience to support large-scale Data Governance and Data Foundation initiatives for a global sustainable energy solutions provider.
This is a highly technical role where you’ll help stand up governance from the ground up, integrate complex cloud and on-prem (OT/EMS) data sources, and play a key role in the organisation’s transition to a modern Microsoft Fabric data platform.
What You’ll Be Working On
- Implementing and configuring Microsoft Purview to enable metadata scanning, classification, glossary, and lineage
- Building and maintaining Microsoft Fabric data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and analytics
- Integrating governance controls across IT SaaS platforms and on-prem operational systems
- Enabling secure, role-based data access through Purview and enterprise IAM
- Supporting the rollout of a scalable Data Foundation using Microsoft Fabric
- Creating reusable ingestion frameworks, automation, and operational runbooks
- Working closely with Data Architects to deliver governance and platform designs into production
What We’re Looking For
- Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview (Data Map, Catalog, SHIR, Classification, Lineage, Policies)
- Solid experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Pipelines, Dataflows, Spark notebooks, Warehouses)
- Background in data engineering, ETL/ELT, SQL, Python, and data modelling
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data lifecycle controls
- Experience integrating cloud platforms with on-prem systems (OT, EMS, historians, databases, or file stores)
- Working knowledge of Azure data services (ADF, Data Lake, Event Hub, Synapse, Databricks)
- Familiarity with IAM / Entra ID RBAC integration (policy enforcement rather than design)
- Experience in regulated or critical infrastructure environments (energy, utilities, OT)
- Exposure to greenfield governance or platform implementations
The Ideal Candidate
You’re a 5–8 year Data Engineer who enjoys building things from scratch, thrives in complex environments, and is comfortable operating at the intersection of governance, engineering, and architecture. You’re practical, delivery-focused, and confident working across both cloud and on-prem data landscapes in a highly regulated setting.
