Title: Color/ Graphics Designer
Location: Beaverton, OR
Duration: 5 months contract

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
This role focuses on the appearance of product, communications, and collateral materials. The primary focus will be coloring up graphics for t-shirts at high volume. You will work with various types of artwork (vector, CMYK, and bitmap etc.) and produce multiple options for review.
Color Design Execution
- Execute color designs and finalize product details with proactive follow-through
- Seek expert input from color design and category teams to develop appropriate solutions
- Review samples to achieve marketable results in collaboration with design, marketing, and development teams
- Clearly communicate all changes for final confirmation
- Maintain ownership of color in the final product
- Manage color calendars, timelines, and deadlines for the category
- Develop line art, color design server, GPIN, PDM, and merchandising line
- Coordinate cutting samples and materials with the material consultant
Product Planning
- Collaborate with design, product marketing, and development/material consultants to focus color solutions for market success
- Gather category-specific information including consumer insights, channels, and market data
- Develop solutions with regard to quality, cost/value, manufacturability, sustainability, merchandising, and aesthetic finish
Color Solutions
- Create and execute innovative, retailable color solutions for category or gender-specific lines
- Partner with the Color Design Director and senior designers to establish seasonal, category-specific direction for color, materials, and graphics
- Reflect design philosophy, product performance, and targeted consumer appeal in all work
- Build out the category line each season with confidence and creativity
- Understand and apply color, design, market, and lifestyle trends relevant to the category
Consumer Research
- Develop a deep understanding of the consumer and their culture
- Study competitor products, consumer retail habits, and color and market trends
- Apply consumer insights directly into color solutions
Presentations & Communication
- Present category-specific color direction and seasonal color merchandising direction to relevant stakeholders
- Communicate clearly and effectively across design, marketing, and development teams
Skill Development
- Continuously grow expertise in materials, special effects, technology, advanced development, presentation, and tools
- Proactively work with management to advance color design skills, product knowledge, and process understanding
- Contribute to elevating the value of color design across Nike
WHAT YOU BRING
- 3+ years of experience in color graphics; graduate-level candidates considered with proven experience working with AI and PSD files
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Graphics experience in web, industrial, or apparel design
- Ability to work across a wide range of graphics, from logos to highly creative or complex designs
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with AI-based design tools such as Vizcom
- Ability to create polished presentations about your work
- Portfolio demonstrating color use, graphic artwork, and personal projects with strong diversity in work types: must include process descriptions and storytelling
Nice-to-Have Skills
- An excellent color sensibility and knowledge of color theory
- Experience editing pre-existing graphic files and applying pre-developed color palettes
- Background in color design
- Experience with Miro
- Detail-oriented, quick thinker, and strong problem solver
