Location: Beaverton, OR

Duration: 1 Year contract

NSRL Human Research Coordinator

The Athlete Protection Program (APP) Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Institutional Review Board (IRB) administrative processes; providing pre-review of research applications as related to ethical and regulatory requirements; providing the first line of response to investigator questions or concerns; providing consultation and education to investigators related to human subjects research compliance and participating in outreach activities or other APP functions as needed.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As part of the Nike Sport Research Lab (NSRL), you will report to the Director of the NSRL Athlete Protection Program as part of the Research Operations team. In this role you will be working with all scientific branches within the NSRL.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific, biomedical, health, or regulatory field with 6 years of direct experience or a master’s degree with 4 years of direct experience
  • Experience working with or a member of IRBs and/or Human research protection programs
  • Well organized
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to deliver effective presentations
  • Comfortable speaking with a wide range of technical experts
  • Can handle ambiguity and drives to seek clarity
  • Expertise in research ethics and knowledge of federal regulations regarding human subjects, including HHS and FDA

Preferred experience

  • Certified IRB Professional
  • Experience with sport science research (biomechanics, perception, physiology, and behavior)
  • Database use and management (Airtable, Excel, etc)

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • You will help maintain a robust program of an ethical innovation and research program in Innovation. 
  • You will work across disciplines in the NSRL to understand the work of each team and the protections that Nike should enable for its Athletes. 
  • You will make recommendations to build upon existing programs in a way that protects our Athletes and enables a rapid pace of innovation and discovery.
  • You will delve into the complex world of ethics and innovation to identify innovative solutions.
  • You will build authentic relationships and trust across teams and departments
  • You will occasionally lead smaller focused fact-finding missions and produce actionable recommendations that moves us closer to our goals
  • You will be able to work independently or in a team setting
  • You will draw upon your experience to bring fresh perspectives and must be able to identify multiple pathways to success.
  • You must be able to think in terms of risk related to athletes and Nike.
  • You must be able to influence others with well-researched logical arguments and make decisions guided by policies in non-standard situations.
  • You will be in charge of twice-yearly trainings and records management
