Title: Pattern Engineer 3

Location: Beaverton, OR

Duration: 9 months contract

NIKE, Inc. does more than outfit the world's best athletes. It is a place to explore potential, obliterate boundaries and push out the edges of what can be. The company looks for people who can grow, think, dream and create. Its culture thrives by embracing diversity and rewarding imagination. The brand seeks achievers, leaders and visionaries. At Nike, it’s about each person bringing skills and passion to a challenging and constantly evolving game.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We need someone who can build a technical clothing pattern based off of a designer's sketch. They are closer to a seamstress than a creative designer. They are creating a pattern as in the technical drawings and measurements of how a garment is constructed and fitted. For example, if you wanted to sew a shirt from scratch, you would likely use a technical drawing and pattern of a shirt that someone else has created. This role is the person who designs that technical pattern and assesses the fit of the garment.

This role is NOT a graphic designer, color designer, product designer, or marketing related person. They are constructing garments and writing technical documents that are used to create the clothing item.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Must Have:

  • 5+ YOE as a Technical designer in pattern making or adjusting patterns, can start from scratch or adjust existing patterns for women’s athletic wear
  • Role is potentially athlete facing, can do functional work and be representative the brand
  • Knowledge of garment construction for knits - knowledge of wovens could work as well, but knits is preferred
  • Portfolios: shows their experience and pattern knowledge, examples of previous relevant work, speaks to the complexity of their pattern design work

Nice to Have:

  • Performance wear experience
  • Outerwear experience, dresses and skirts
  • PDM, PCX, PLM, Web based to add comments on changes - record keeping tools
