EBA: Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors In Training Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026

CLASSIFICATION: Registrar Year 1 – Year 6+ (HM25-30) Base salary $116,000 – $159,000

Applications are invited for the position of Intensive Care Registrar at Northeast Health Wangaratta. There are four 3 positions available for the 2026 clinical year.

NHW is the major regional health service and specialist referral facility for Northeast Victoria. It serves a population of approximately 102,000,

performs over 6,500 procedures a year and has over 19,000 inpatient episodes and 30,000 Emergency Department attendances a year and approximately 700 births per year. We have onsite radiology, pathology and blood bank service. NHW provides a wide range of acute specialist medical and surgical services, an emergency department, critical care unit (ICU, HDU, CCU), obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, specialised aged care, medical oncology services, community rehabilitation, inpatient, community, aged and psycho-geriatric mental health services. 

NHW has recently completed a major redevelopment, including the building of a new emergency department, ICU, and expansion of medical and paediatric units.

Northeast Health Wangaratta (NHW) is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine for basic foundation training (for doctors interested in pursuing ICU training) and also elective and basic components of ICU training.

By taking up this position, you will have the exciting opportunity to work with a legend in ICU – Prof David Tuxen, who is the current Clinical Director of NHW ICU and is widely known internationally for his work as on the Mechanical Ventilation of Asthma.

The duties of this position are to be performed with adherence to the purpose and values of Northeast Health Wangaratta’s strategic plan and compliance with the Code of Behaviour for staff of Northeast Health Wangaratta.

Essential criteria to be eligible to apply:

  • Have General Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Candidates with experience in Intensive Care.
  • Minimum of PGY3 or above
  • Ability to comply with the “Behavioural Outcomes” for this role (listed in PD)
  • A current National Police Check
  • A current Working with Children Check (renewed every 5 years)
  • Demonstrated commitment to rural/regional practice

Interviews will only be offered to shortlisted applicants. A referee assessment form will be sent to shortlisted applicants to have completed prior to interview (two clinical reference reports required). Interviews will be held at Northeast Health Wangaratta.
